    Sir Nevile Meyrick Henderson GCMG (10 June 1882 – 30 December 1942)
was a British diplomat and Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Nazi Germany from 1937 to 1939.
In 1937, Henderson accepted the post of Ambassador to Berlin. As he points out in the prologue, he had hopes for peace and a belief that Hitler's ambitions would wane or that the German people would ultimately refuse to follow Hitler. Finally, when the German army invaded Poland, Henderson realized that his hopes for world peace were not to be.
