Vintage 1964 Disneyland Records "Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House" Early Haunted Mansion Attraction LP (White Version)
    ABOUT THIS ITEM
Here lies a most terrific collection of recorded sounds!
Vintage 1964 vinyl Disneyland record, "Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House", an early promo piece aimed at garnering interest in the yet-to-be-completed "Haunted Mansion" ride. This is the "white" version of the album cover.
The artwork on the front and back of the album is a Haunted Mansion type manor by artist Paul Wenzel, created as concept art for the attraction itself. An old mansion is seen in the dark of might during a thunderstorm - a graveyard in the foreground. Interestingly, none of the generic graphics represent the Mansion as it would finally appear upon its debut at the park in 1969, so listeners were left to their imaginations wondering what Walt Disney's much touted spooky ride might bring.
Drawing upon the vast sound effects library of Walt Disney Studio, Disneyland produced this LP in anticipation of the coming attraction:
    Side One:
Ten stories in sound in which the narrator sets up the situation and the sound effects take over and tell the story. Stories include "The Haunted House", "The Unsafe Bridge", "Shipwreck", "The Martian Monsters", etc.
    Side Two:
Collection of sound effects grouped by category. These may be used to create your own stories in sound. Samples include screams and groans, thunder and lightning, cat fight, collection of creaks, fuses and explosions, collection of crashes, birds, things in space, etc.
