    Description

A rare example of the Manhattan Carbide bicycle lamp in good condition. It features a vented brass burner and very simple design. It has features the same as the second model Rough Rider and similar to the Full Moon. Made by the Nassau Lamp Company in 1899. The magnifying lens has a few flea bites where the retention wires are. The inside has some sort of ancient filtering material around the dripper. The gas tube is a little loose where it exits the body of the lamp, but that is easily fixed. In general, the lamp is in very good condition and seldom offered.
One can read about this rare lamp on pages 224 and 252 of All About North American Acetylene Gas Bicycle Lamps by Dr. Chris Brooks.
